Sodium bicarbonate, known as baking soda, can be found in every kitchen and is one of the most useful ingredients around the world, especially when it comes to home-made remedies for body care.

It can be hard to believe that something you probably have in your pantry, can be incredibly beneficial beauty solution. It isn’t toxic and is extremely effective. And the best of all – It’s cheap!

Combine 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of warm water and mix until you make a paste. Than splash your face with water, grab some of the paste and gently massage your face for about 1 minute in a circular motion. Finally, rinse your face with warm water. Your skin will become very soft, smooth and fresh. You can do this twice a week.

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of milled oatmeal and 4 tablespoons of water. Use this paste to rub your body in circular motions, and wash with warm water. This scrub will remove dead cells from your skin surface, making your whole body renewed and refreshed.
Detox bath can help your body eliminate all the toxins absorbed into your body. So, all you need to do is to add ½ cup of baking soda, and the same quantity of sea salt, or Epsom salt into your bathtub to neutralize acids on the skin, while calming irritants that the body brings to its surface as a result of a sunburn, skin irritation or bite. It will make your skin softer and smoother. You can relax with this detox bath in the evening.

Relaxing Feet Soak
After a long and hard day, treat your feet using a relaxing soak of baking soda and warm water. You can mix ½ cup of baking soda in a gallon of warm water, and soak for about 20 min, to half hour. It will get your feet clean and will soften your skin.
Make Your Own Baking Soda Deodorant at Home
Put 4 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl and add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil (for example, you can use lavender oil), mix it all together and your deodorant is ready to use. The easiest way to apply it is with a powder puff or brush onto your underarms, and it will immediately make the body smell disappear.
Freshen Your Breath
You can create an easy and refreshing mouthwash mixing 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 2 drops of peppermint essential oil in a glass of water. It will freshen your breath neutralizing the bacteria in your mouth.

Whiten Your Teeth
The best and most effective way to whiten your teeth using baking soda is following: Put your favorite toothpaste on your brush, and then put a little bit of baking soda on top. In this way it will easily stick to the toothpaste. Then, brush gently for about 3 minutes and wash your mouth. Don’t use it every single day, instead brush your teeth this way 2 or 3 days, and then continue brushing only with a toothpaste. You can repeat this method after a week.
Wash Your Makeup Brushes and Combs
Put 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Soak your brushes in this mixture, then rinse with water. This method will help to thoroughly clean your makeup brushes and combs from all oils build-up and residue from beauty products.
You can use this magical ingredient to give your nails and cuticles a good cleaning, or you can use it to treat nail fungus as well. To clean your nails put some baking soda on your nail brush and scrub.
To treat nail fungus make a paste mixing baking soda and water, apply it all around the infected nail, and let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this method twice a day until the fungus is completely cured.
Calm Shaved Skin
Right after you shaved your legs, put 1 tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water and spread it all over your legs to calm the itchy and tight skin feeling. After a few minutes rinse them with water.
Keep in mind that although baking soda is natural, some skin types, especially sensitive ones, can get easily irritated if it is frequently used. So, limit using these treatments to once or twice a week.
